Marry me, she said.
Just watched Leap Year, a really cute movie keeping in the trend of Irish love stories… It’s about an American woman (played by beautiful red-head Amy Adams from Julie&Julia) who has an elaborate scheme to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day, an Irish tradition which occurs every time the date February 29 rolls around. On her way to Dublin, she ends up on an epic adventure with a lovely rugged Irish guy.
I have major respect for Amy Adams’ character wearing those beautiful high heels throughout the entire journey. The movie’s filled with really cute couple moments, and beautiful landscapes. It makes me want to go on holiday to Ireland and date a man who happens to be a chef. It also makes me want to live in a castle, and to live with enough love for something (or someone) to drop everything else for it.
Leap Year also got me thinking.. would I ever propose?
On the one hand, the world is all equal (or on it’s way to being) and if a girl knows she’s in love, then why not? I’d love to be in a relationship where I’m so certain and so passionate that I wouldn’t think twice about asking him to marry me.
On the other hand, there’s the “he’s the boy” mentality. I’d like him to take the lead, take intiative. And not because that’s what society says is right. I confess, I have been brain-washed by the movie magic. But mostly, I want the moment where the boy is so completely sure that I’m the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with that he would take a risk in asking me.
What do you think?
