Top 10 Pirated Movies of All Time

Piracy

Piracy Piracy is a huge money gobbler. Apparently. Top 10 pirated movies. TorrentFreak released results of a study they did in pirated movies. Irony was the result. James Cameron, the director of award winning 3D film Avatar, said that 3D films were the film industry’s defence against piracy. Apparently he was wrong. Avatar is the most pirated movie of all time. Awkward. The film industry claims that piracy “gobbles” their profits & robs them of hard earned cash. Avatar recorded $2.8bn worldwide. In fact, every movie in this top ten list broke the $100m revenue generated, except for Kick Ass which was only $2m short. In any case, here are the top ten pirated movies of all time: 1. Avatar (21 million downloads) 2. The Dark Knight (19 million) 3. Transformers (19 million) 4. Inception (18 million) 5. The Hangover (17 million) 6. Star Trek (16 million) 7. Kick-Ass (15 million) 8. The Departed (14 million) 9. The Incredible Hulk (14 million) 10. Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End (14 million) What’s even more interesting than this list however, were the opinions that people had on the matter: “Going to the movies is a joke! The price to get in is too much; the price of the food is too high; and the price of the drinks and ever-thingelse is outrageous!!! I don’t agree with the pirateing but what do you expect? You create resentment when these items are so outlandish; people revolt’ they get an I’ll show you attitude!! It would be a lot better if these items were more reasonably priced. Them more people could aford them; and less resentment more contentment!” “Pirating doesn’t significantly impact the movie industry, they just want an extra source of revenue (suing individuals for 2000X the price of the DVD)” “This list just reminded me that I hadn’t downloaded avatar yet.” “I wouldn’t be surprised if I see theaters disappear in the next 10-15 years…” “I am happy to say that I own all these movies legally. I just don’t see the point of pirated movies. The quality of the picture is always crappy, I’m someone who would rather spend $10 at a movie theatre or buy a movie for $25, both of which would have a crystal clear image.” “I do not agree that it is ok to pirate just because the price at the theater is outrageous, even though it is. One can still rent the movie and watch it at home for a fair price. Either way you are seeing it at home on a smaller screen, may as well do it the right way and pay the rental fee.” Piracy is something that I’m sure I can safely say we have all been, at one point or another, involved in, explicitly or implicitly. For many people, it’s the only affordable option. For some, it’s a way to get back at “The Man”. For others, it’s just more convenient. Just remember, that at the end of the day, that’s money not going into someone’s pocket who rightfully deserved it. Although, making $2.8bn & losing $1m from piracy, I wouldn’t mind having that problem. Just saying.
