Why This Weekend Isn’t The Worst Thing Ever
It’s one of the hardest weekends of the year. The last weekend of holidays, before university goes back into the swing of things. Now whilst you may feel that this is the worst thing that could possibly happen to you & you decide your only course of action is to turn Tinroof into your second home, I have an alternative. Here is a list of some people who are having a rougher time than you:
Bashar Al-Assad
This man, the current president of Syria, is hanging on to power with dear life. One of his top politicians defected on him, his brother in law as well as other high ranking officials were killed in a suicide attack & the world is unified in calling for his head, metaphorically speaking of course. I’m pretty sure Al-Assad would like nothing more than the challenge of waking up on time for varsity.
Batman fans in Denver, Colorado
This is by no means a trifling of the tragic events that occurred in Colorado. 12 people killed in a shooting of the latest, & final, Batman movie in the trilogy. A senseless shooting at what was supposed to be an enjoyable evening for friends & family. If you think Monday is horrendous, imagine losing loved ones in this most unexpected of ways.
Microsoft
Microsoft recorded its first lost. EVER. That’s a first loss since 1986, when it began trading on the stock market. The loss totals $492m, but to be honest, that’s not physical cash. It came down to the fact that they wrote off a $6.2bn acquisition. Okay fine, I’ll admit, this is an awesome problem to have. Still, for the likes of Bill Gates, this is one of the few things that can really make the man shed even a tear.
Jacob Zuma
The man has a painting of himself and his genital regions circulating the web. Need I say more?
So, if you’re still convinced that your weekend is the hardest thing to happen since they stopped making Scrubs, hopefully this made you feel a little better.
